Are you building a G0KSC Yagi antenna? Take a look at who's been building what over the last month..

Since publishing some HF antennas, photos and reports are starting to come in with some very promising results. Many want to see what differences antennas designed and completed using nec4 (or better) will show. One such case was that conducted by TK4LS in the shape of this 4el 28MHz OWA Yagi.

As is quite often the case, G0KSC was asked to custom design the tapering of this antenna in order to fit the tube diameter requirements Laurent had. Looking forward to seeing the finished antenna in the air Laurent!!

I am sure G8FJG has built more G0KSC antennas than any other non-commercial ham and again, this month he added two more antennas. the 4.9m 6el 70MHz LFA and the 6.0m 6el 50MHz LFA. One important note is performance on the 50MHz antenna did not at first seem to be as it should. Although there was not much, there was boom sag and on any antenna, this saps performance!! Get the element straight in order to get the performance you deserve!

Cesare, IV3MUR has been stunning EME'ers with his rx performance now he has upgraded to 2 x 8el 144MHz LFAs for EME. He did have a small issue with tuning first off though, until we relaised he had installed black plastic end caps on each element! A common mistake that this unwelcome addition will de-tune your antenna. Below are 2 of the EME QSO's completed by Cesare, note the incredible signal levels considering this compact sized array.

IV3MUR reception of EA5CJ showing a best -11dB rx'd signal !!

The next reception of JE1TNL with -19dB being best this time !

G4ZTR This month ventured into dualband Yagi building and completed this SC-6-4-8D dualband 4/6m Yagi. With a single feedpoint this antenna is idea for the FT847 user and provides excellent performance on both bands. With around 8.5dBi on both bands and a compact 2.1m boom, this antenna is a winner for most locations tight on space!

Operators at 9A7A have been busy building G0KSC antennas for their contest season and so far have installed 1 x 7el G0KSC OWA for 28MHz and 2 x 6el 21MHz OWAs for 21MHz.

'SWR bandwidth is fantastic. Exactly as designed. A 7el 10m OWA is 1.1 : 1 from 28 to 28.700, while 6OWA21OS is flat accross the entire band.'

9A3OS, Sam

LY2FN built the G0KSC 5el 28MHz OWA Yagi which was desgined for GM3SEK. However, mounted above a full-size 40m 3el Yagi, it looks very small indeed!

AB5EB installed his 9.8m 7el 50MHz LFA too this month and had this comment to make when compared with this log (below) - 'I worked W8IF and compared beams. He said there was a 40dB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! difference.'

AB5EB has a 9.8m long 50MHz LFA installed

AD5A installed his 4el LFA for 6m this month too, the father and son dual (AB5EB, AD5A) helped each other out getting the antennas inplace and both are very happy with the results.

Finally, PA2M sent this photo of his SC-6-4-9D dualband 4/6m G0KSC Yagi which has a 3.5m boom, 5 elements on 4m and 4 elements on 6m.

One last note, anyone who has visited my site for a while will remember Graham, G8HVY built 2 x 7el LFA Yagis for the 70mhz/4m band earlier this year (before the summer season). I had this Email from Graham today:-

'Hi Justin
Remember your quote here '' Look out for Graham this summer, I am sure he will be top of many pile-ups on 4m!''

well just to keep you up to date on some of my results this year with the new antennas, 4 x new DXCC's, 27 new #
and first UK station to work the following calls EA8/DL3GCS  5B4AIF X band, D44TD, CU4/DL3GCS.
Not bad and well worth the effort of building the antennas.'

Have you built a G0KSC antenna or plan to? Don't forget to send photos, many do not and it is all I ask for all the hard work that goes into designing these great antennas!

73, until next time.
