For those hams familiar with EME it will not come as a surprise to here that the LFA Yagi is quickly taking hold as 'the antenna of choice' amongst serious players. The fact is, the combination of low temperature, high levels of front to side and front to back suppression and super wide bandwidth (meaning performance and usage of the antennas in any weather) presents a winning formula that most hams want and need !!

DL4KUG first built an LFA Yagi last year. He reported his findings and the fact he was happy with the results. However, upon seeing the photos of his antenna, I realised he had used through-boom-and-element holders which ALWAYS require correction which he had not applied. It is easy for this to be missed and I explained why and how he had still seen acceptable figures. However, he took on board my comments and recommendation to completely insulate the elements.

some months on he has finally installed a bay of 4 x 9el 144MHz LFAs and here are his comments:

'Hi Justin,

Some weeks ago I have finished all works for my 4 bay construction and arranged the whole construction on my tower. As promised last year, I send you now a picture of  new antennas. I have tested it over 3 weeks in EME and Tropo qsos and must say, it works very well.

Thanks again for your assistance and I hope that i will have a lot of fun and success with this group.

73s to you and hope to work you also on 2 mtrs'
